June 11 2007, First Financial Innovation Forum of Peking University opened at Life Science Building. The Forum was jointly hosted by School of Continuing Education and China Institute for Financial Derivatives, and the topic was Stock Index Future and Chinese Capital Market, another import agenda was to present Mr. Leo Melamed, Chairman Emeritus of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), recognized the world over as "the founder of financial futures" to be Honorary Dean of China Institute for Financial Derivatives of Peking University. Professor Yanghe, deputy-secretary of committee of the communist party of china, Peking University welcomed the guest and participated the Forum. Before the beginning of the Forum, Professor Yanghe and Mr. Leo Melamed had an active meeting, and Mr. Melamed presented his work to Professor Yang.
The Forum aimed to provide a platform for Chinese future industry professional to communicate with overseas expertise about hot topics and problems they were facing now. Almost two hundred guests from stock exchanges and future industry organizations participated the Forum.
Professor Zheng Xueyi, Dean, School of Continuing Education(SCE)hosted the Forum. Firstly, Professor Yang addressed a welcome to the Forum and the distinguish guest, then the ceremony of the present of Honorary Dean of China Institute for Financial Derivatives of Peking University began. Later, Mr. Leo Melamed donated his works to China Institute for Financial Derivatives of Peking University.
The keynote speech and Q&A interaction was attractive part of the Forum. The speech topics are as follow: The New Tendency of Financial Derivatives Market, Mr. Leo Melamed; The Design Feature of Chinese Stock Index Future Contract System, Zhang Xiaogang; Stock Index Future and Financial Value Economy, Tan Weidong.
Mr. Melame was the core between the dialogue and Q&A part, and he patiently explained each question from lecturer and audiences, and active discussion happened between Mr. Melamed and all participants.
The Forum has been successfully held. Many participants expressed that such forum provided a communicate chance for them, and they would like to participate more event such as the forum.
